I had my own business as a teenager and gave it up to begin working for someone else ever since- almost 20 years (big mistake). Changing jobs about every 4 to 5 years always got me back to starting near the "bottom" and 2 weeks vacation a year. I got into WSR after seeing a chip tech fix my window and began thinking about where am I really going? I got a kit, began practicing and doing it in my spare time. Late last year I got really fed up at my old job and made the move to doing WSR full time. It was a piece of cake. Just more hours doing it like I was doing it part time. The freedom now in UNBELIEVABLE. I will admit, there is no doubt that getting on this forum made a HUGE difference in how I got to where I am right now. My old boss is still smarting from the fact I could just walk away and not miss a beat. I am never going back to the way it was, ever.
Thanks guys and girls

I wish I have the balls to just quit my job and go on to venture in the WSR business. My current job is fine but I haven't received a raise in 3 years. Almost every weekly report I do, my boss revised the report and made it sound like she does all of my work and forwards it to my big boss......I did the majority of the work here. She knows that I'm mad and she continues to do it, but what can i do. I just suck it up and continue to work and make a living to pay bills. Sorry for the rant.

I like to hear more stories so I'll be more motivated to quit my job and have my freedom again.

Just do it part time until it gets in the way of your fulltime job, then put in your notice. Sounds easy but that is what I,m facing right now. Scored alot of new accounts this month and am having trouble keeping up.

Go down to walmart and buy a set of balls, then go to your boss and tell her what you need to tell her on your feelings along with the tape of Johnny Paycheck "Take this job and shove it". at that time when she says you are fired then you can tell a little more on the way out the door...

That will be your first step on to self employment. Good luck after that point..

Just kidding....

When you get the the nerve to go out and start your own thing you will feel the weight lifted or droped onto you.

Make sure you have a good seed set aside to pay the bills for at least 2 to 3 months till the checks come dribbling in..
Then you are on your way.

Glass treatment?

I had a nice job as a teller in our local credit union, but I knew my mom was going to come to live with us, and was looking around for something where I would have more flexible hours. Windshield repair kinda fell into my lap, and after doing some research, I found out that I could earn as much or more, with one insurance job, as what I earned all day at the credit union. I really did like that job, though.

I just noticed I hijacked the forum. Sorry. Maybe Jeff could make another forum index for people who would like to rant and take some steam off of their mind. It really releases stress when I rant...don't know about you guys. And I hate making another post that's non related to wsr. 8)

MY FIRST CRACK OUT!!

Notice of termination of business arrangement, effective immediately.

As a result of continuously not receiving commissions owed to me in a timely, prescribed and promised manor, I am terminating my relationship with XTZ Company immediately.[/

These are the first two lines of the fax I sent this morning to the company I have been working with. My last paycheck from them was Feb. 25, although I have been across the country 3 times since and have worked in several places at my own expense. One of the trips allowed me to spend a day with MAFSU aka Chris, that really helped watching an experienced repair tech in action. So all was not lost.

I am so ready to go full time WRS. There is no doubt in my mind I can make a good living for myself and get more work than I care for in a short time frame. What I have learned from the forum about marketing, repairs, and with the added continual support from the group, I am ready.

XZY Company was a bit surprised today when they received my fax; guess they expected me to go on forever waiting months at a time to get paid. Nope, ain't gonna do it, wouldn

CPR,

What's the population in your area and do you you get alotta fleets and insurance jobs? Did you do the Coitser method to getting customers?

gt_repair,

I'll plant a virus on her pc and also expose all of her behind the scenes illegal things that she's doing in the company. That would be nice. J/k about the virus part.

I was thinking of telling them to cut me down to part time. But if I do that, they'll hire another person to take over my hours. And if I want them back, they're going to say too bad. Hmmm.....gotta make a decision.

Mark,

nice going!! I once quit my job during high school after working there for 2 years. My friends and I decided to quit at the same time right after graduation. Reason: The boss had a hot temper and the manager always pick on my fellow coworkers. I got fed up and not show up the next day. Also there were no other workers available to work and the catering business was pretty much screwed that day from what I heard.
He called, left a message and apologize. I just screwed it, never call back. That was one of the best days of my life.

Hey Mark, My area is about 250,000 within a 30 mile radius. Most cars here dont have much damage, I find most on large trucks and rv,s (hint, hint) so I focus on those. I go to rv parks, storage places, rv sales lots, truck stops and trucking companys.

I have 3 car dealers but they only produce 3-4 repairs a month on average. Most places I go to are offered a free repair so they can see the quality of the work done, this gets me in alot of doors. For fleets you usually have to talk to the lead mechanic or the shop manager. I also try to look around at their vehicles to see how the repairs they are getting now look, usually average which helps sell yourself.
