Re: plastic cure tabs
The film I use is rough on one side and smooth on the other, I have only had them stick when I use the rough side or when using bad resin.

Re: plastic cure tabs
I have used mylar tracing film you can purchase in craft stores and leather supply stores (The Leather Factory & Tandy leather). It comes 36" wide and you purchase it by the yard, cut tabs to the size you want. Glossy on one side, matt on the other. I now prefer to use the curing tape that Glass Technology sells, but I still have some tabs that I can fall back on if I need to. The tabs can be re-used numerous times, but should only be cleaned after each use... Janvil talked about this in one of their newsletters quite a while ago, comparing it to not eating from the same plate repeatedly without washing it in between. The main objective being to prevent any possible contamination that might affect the quality or clarity of the finished repair.

MYLAR IS MADE BY DUPONT AND IT DOES NOT CONTAIN ACID WITCH CAN CONTAMINATE THE RESIN. THE PROJECTOR SHEETS ARE WHAT THEY CALL ACETATE WITCH DOES CONTAIN ACID. GO TO A ART SUPPLY STORE AND ASK FOR MYLAR GET THE CLEAR SHEETS IN WHATEVER THICKNESS YOU WANT AND CUT IT TO YOUR SPECS. JUST A TIDBIT OF INFO.

Re: plastic cure tabs
Personaly I don't use the plastic tabs anymore unless I am doing a long crack repair. I use the roll up tape that Delta Kits sells and like that a lot better. Of course I don't scrape the chip like most of you do. So when I am done with the repair the top of the chip is clear and smooth with the windshield.

Re: plastic cure tabs
I use alcohol to clean the tabs, just soak them 3 to 5 min, then remove them to a clean absorbant paper towel, and lay another towel on top to absorb the moisture on the top side.
Re: plastic cure tabs
So if you don't scrape off the cured resin, how do you do it David?
