Verticle Glass Repair

Post by Bois »

There are previous threads regarding tips for repairing verticle glass but I ran up against one this weekend that I couldn't do. A gentleman approached me and said that he had an RV that had a rock chip at the bottom of the window with a 4-5" crack going up. I informed him that I could repair it. Now, I've done repairs on Hummers and Jeep Wranglers, and had done a repair on an RV the previous day. All had almost verticle glass. But this particular RV had VERTICLE glass - no slant at all (Winnebago Journey). My injector (Delta) was parallel to the ground. Since there was a crack above the chip, I couldn't mount the bridge above or below the chip and "play" with the adjusters. I asked the owner to lower the back chassis levelers and raise the front ones. This didn't improve the angle enough. I tried syringes with Delta's Premium and Magnabond resins. Each time I loaded the injector, resin would run out the mouth. I finally gave up and apologized.

Guess I need to find another type injector. Any comments???

Or you could call for tech support.

Or you could check out the current newsletter that discusses vertical repairs.

You should be able to repair as if it were a little sloped using a syringe and then just be patient. Don
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

Jeff is always right. Matt is only right when he agrees with Jeff.

He might read it, but he probably doesn't know how to post! ;) And Dave, you're right...SHE definitely won't read it, or I uh...would have phrased it differently!
