I charge 30 for the first repair and 10 for each additional chip....just depends on the city you live in. I do mobile mostly......If you take your car to a glass replacement shop they will charge you 50 bucks w/no warranty. I give a one year warranty on any of my repairs. I also fix repairs up to 24".....glass shops can't do that....lol

Standard rate in Edmonton is $25 (1st) and then $10 offered by all windshield shops. I charge the same but provide mobile service. I wish the going rate here was as high as it is in some of your parts, I could double my income.

I'm not sure I really understand why.
There is really not much difference in price from city to city or even state to state when it come to windshield replacement.
When I started doing repairs in 1992 I was charging the car lots $25 a pop and charging retail $39. I now charge car lots $45 and retail $55- $65 a pop. As it was said in an earlier post. Let people know your the best. That is if you feel your the best.
With the price of fuel, travel time back and forth across town, time on the job. You guys that are charging $25 - $35 retail are just killing yourselves. Some people in my area of Atlanta charge low ball prices. doesn't hurt me. About a month ago someone called me for a price on a repair. I told the $65. They told me they found a company that would come to them and do the repair for $29. I actually chuckled on the phone when he told me that.
And this is exactly what I told him and all of you should adopt a similar reply.
_____________
" $29.? You mean to tell me a glass shop is going to spend time sending a technician across town to your home or office, spend time doing the repair and then spend time traveling back across town to the shop for only $29.? And not to mention the cost of the resin.
That's just too funny. If you take that offer you won't hurt my feelings a bit. For $29, you get what you pay for."

That's exactly what I told this man. And you know what? I got the job for $65.
You need to educate the consumer. In their eyes it's just a repair. But it's more than that. It's your expertise. You time involved, the quality of the repair, and yes, the travel time.
A lot of things factor into a windshield repair. Don't cut yourself short on the kind of money you can earn. Be positive, be proactive and be sure of yourself.
