Tooldini, I can honestly say and would highly recommend contacting the people who are kind enough to let us all use this forum, DELTA KITS.
Contact Jeff or Matt, they will be delighted to give you advice and training on windshield repair. I think they even offer FREE training at thier factory. They sell a excellent kit and the resins are the best I have used.

I was trained in the UK by 2 companies and I visited the US for the 2007 Mobile tech expo, whilst here I decided to take advantage of the delta certified training to brush up on my skills.

I am very happy with the training I recieved and I also bought thier repair bridge and some other bits to replace the poor quality equipment I was using.
I did not recieve free training as I did not go to thier factory but was more than happy to pay.

If you are thinking about getting into windscreen repair talk to delta and other windshield repair companies to compare, but I have wasted money on previous kits and now have a good kit and more confidence. Delta will cover not only the training aspect of the repairs but also...
Marketing
Sales
Insurance Billing and more importantly ongoing technical support.

When you are properl trained you will have more confidence and will do better repairs and you will be able to charge more.

And if you charge more-----you work less!

Hope this helps

Good luck

I would recommend Imac or Blending colors.
Depends how much you want to spend but if you are low on funds then Imac, if you want a very high quality touch up then Blending Colors are extreamly impressive. The best touch up/air brush system I have seen, and believe me I am very fussy! I think he only has around 11 colors to mix all the shades needed to match most colors.

As for costs, if you can do a good touch up then you can save your dealers from having stone chips bonets/hoods resprayed and charge $45 upwards for 30 mins work, If they are not willing to pay that then move on to the next dealer because there will be lots of dealers who will pay, offer to do a free demo, I know its free and you dont earn nothing for that 1 repair, but think about it, once you have showed them what you can do I am sure you will walk away with another account under your belt! The dealers that will pay more money would be the higher end car and the newer car dealer.

Just research and I would recommend going and seeing these systems for yourself. The guy at blending colors seems to know his stuff and I would defo include him in your research.

just something to keep in mind
1) look for a system that can do road rash and scratches... many systems can do chips but to be a cut above you need to do what i just mentioned
2) not everybody can mix by eye.. a good match is essential especially for scrathes.. thats why i prefer mixing up from paint code
3) make sure your resupply of material is not way overpriced a lot of co. charge a lot of money for their stuff. ex: paint toners may cost from 18.00 to 97.00 for 8 oz bottle
if you do demo run masking tape down center of hood and do just one side so they can see the differance...
in my time in the business i have bought 2 systems.. i sure wish i had this forum the first time.. i would have saved a big headache

No I do not have thier web address, I thought it might be on the DVD they gave me but it isnt.

I think he will be contacting me soon so as soon as I have it I can let you know.

I can see what you are saying Mr Chip about not every one can mix colours by eye, that is why I choose Imac as it is sooo easy and quick to pick the closest colour, and I too would rather have a excact colour match than just a close match, but it can be done and that is where training comes in.

Blending colors was telling me how he matched his colors just using around 9 or 10 tints, I was a bit unsure at first but when I listened to what he was saying it made sense, after all he is not painting entire panels this way but just airbrushing minor stuff. I see a repair he had done and if you looked Very close you could see the airbrushed chip but any dealer or customer would be blown away, it was flush and it really did look good. I did not see him do it so for all I know it could have taken him all day, but that is why I say GO and see for yourself and make up your own mind. His system for me is no good because it is solvent based and in the UK we can only spray water based colours:eusa_snoo

If you want this guys number please pm me and I will give it to you, but don't think its a good idea to post it on here.

I am always willing to learn as I do not know everything and challenge Anybody who thinks they do.

Always good to keep a open mind.

But as far as attracting work from auctions if his system works well on all colours you will get plent of interest.

feel free to pm me,
