I tell my customers, especially the ones that haven't had this done before, that its like you drop a cup on the floor and it breaks. No matter how good the bonding agent is that you use to put it back together it still will show where it was bonded. They seem to understand this better than anything else that I have told them.
I also say that what this entails is bonding the glass together, so it will look a lot better, just like the cup looks like a cup again, but you may still see a remnant of the crack line as you would in the cup.
Then, when they can hardly see it except from an exact observation angle and only the pit is visible but even that is pretty darned well gone, they are really thrilled.
Undersell, then over deliver for happy customers.

Re: Frustrated
I agree with nomad...also though the problem with star breaks is that you generally have to use a thinner repair resin to get into all the legs.Thinner resins don't have as good a refractive index match to glass and is why you still see the legs even after they are filled and cured.
