How busy are these guys keeping you? I also do a lot of car rental work and these can be very valuable accounts. Are you doing repairs on cars still in fleet and turnbacks?

I do work for a major rental comp. also (Enterprise) and they are sqeeling with my fleet rate. They normaly pay $5.00 per car from a bate and switch shop that comes in to repair their fleet in an other large city but breaks every third windshild for the switch of replacement. cought on video.

I did a car at my rate one day when they came down to talk to their emplyees and I just happen to be finishing up a car, I did not know he was there and the local manager that supports me saw I just finished, asked the big shot to try to find my repair I just finished, and he could not find my work. We know what the $5.00 shops work looks like, When he could not find my work all we (myself and the local manager) told the big shot "that is why you pay me more for my work). I do not get much BS from them now.

I also have them on one hour call for that price... That part helps them to keep the car on the road making them money....

Try the last part of one hour service at your rate and see if they are willing to pay your rate...

Before starting in windscreen repairs (good move, thanks Screenman), I was doing smart repairs. I got a call from one of my competitors asking for help at one of his customer

Sorry this is a bit late, everyone. Thanks for all the replies and advice. I quit the Hertz fleet back in February. I haven't heard from them since. 7 years of devoted work to them and not one word!! Oh well, that's life!!

To be honest all of you, a glass buddy of mine has been working his airport rentals for over 12 years. Many of his national rental fleets pay only $20 per repair (flat rate) while a few others pay $25 (flat rate). Is he hurting for money? Not that I ever seen! Many days when I call him, it's not even noon yet and he already racked up $500.

So does $18 seem really low for a repair? Yeah of course it does but if it's a daily high volume account not really!

Each market is different as to volume and price. If your in a high volume market you can make good money by selling for less but if your not in one of these you'll have to adjust your pricing accordingly.

Not sure which one Nolenworks was in but if they provided 10-15 repairs daily I would've lived with that.

Hertz would usually give me around maybe 10 to 15 on Mondays, but only 3 or 4 per day the rest of the week, on average. I don't miss them at all. Corporations want the lowest bidder, and it doesn't matter what the quality is.:eek:

Great suggestion Splitpit.. ! 17 years ago the going price "here" for fleets such as rental companies were $25 and $10. Times have changed, most people change with them. Enterprise locally pays $45 for the first shot and $15 for each additional. They usually have 7-9 vehicles every week at each location. For the "quantity" of work I discount the pricing to the above mentioned rates. However, if they only have one vehicle in the fleet of 150 units that needs a repair the price is $65. My time to inspect each vehicle is worth the extra money to them. Hope this helps in your choice to charge what you should be charging.
