I know for a fact that some long time and respected forum members do not post regularly any longer due to it. That is there perogative but is reality.
Brian,
Why don't the long time and respected members post regularly any more? Is it because that some of the posts have no relevance? I feel that has been a problem for a long time, but short of banning a few of the worst offenders I don't know what to do about it. Maybe that is what needs to happen, but only as a last resort. Instead I have been trying to give friendly reminders to stay on topic, limit the sarcasm, and limit the negativity. Hopefully that will work, but it's too early to tell. If I have missed the point, please explain what you mean.
I had complaints from two very valuable forum members last week, both considering leaving the forum, at least temporarily, due to the actions of one particular member. We certainly don't want that to happen, but I also hope not to have to take drastic measures.
As for this thread, it is exactly what I would want to hear if I was just getting into the business, as long as it is believable that is. I sure wouldn't want to start a business that I didn't think could make me any money. However, if you have reason to believe some of us are not telling the truth, then I am with you all the way. Maybe another good topic would be what a newbie can expect to make in an average week, month, or year. My first year was not particularly impressive, but for a guy that was out of work I was very excited just to average a couple of repairs a day.
We have a lot of customers that are happy with a couple of repairs a day, but I think it is very motivating to know that there are some folks that are averaging 10+ repairs per day, and in some cases doing that in multiple locations.
