I just completed my 13th year in windshield repair. I have used a variety of resins and have experienced the dermatitis problem 2 or 3 times. I used nitrile gloves to deal with that miserable condition. I am currently a user of Delta's resin and here of late my repairs are done with bare hands. Perhaps I have built an immunity?

I'm sure that everyone's hands and skin sensitivities are different. I can tell you that, though I have only been exposed to resins for 1 year, I have not yet experienced any sensitivities to the resin I am using when I'm practicing repairs. At the SEMA show, I performed over 50 repairs in the span of 3 days, and had no issues with dryness or sores of any type. I am also careful to wash my hands after contacting resin though, even if it is with glass cleaner--anything available to wash off the resin, just to be safe. But, as a former service industry employee, I can tell you that I am sensitive to some chemicals. The sanitizer rinse used in dish washing at a bar was very abrasive to my hands. My hands used to seem permanently cracked and split from that stuff. Even barrier lotion was not sufficient: however, I do have a suggestion for a product for some of you that are experiencing this. I am in no way affiliated with selling this product, but it was recommended to me by the ladies at my local post office: I don't remember the brand, since I haven't had to use it in over a year, but I got it at a Walgreen's. It was a "foot cream" and it came in a tub. It says something about "healing and moisturizing." Anyway, it worked on my hands and helped heal the damage done by the sanitizing rinse used as the last step for washing bar glasses, maybe it will help for healing hand issues from resin. Worth a try anyway...

Update!I have the rash under control! One thing I failed to say in the 1st post is that I play tennis 3-4 days a week and also lift weights. These hoobies are not helping,so I have been chilling out some.I will never do another repair without a pair of gloves on.I have been sleeping with cotton gloves on with some expensive repair lotion on and that has really helped. Thanks for all your input.

I knew there was a reason I don't exercise anymore! ;)

That's great news Bill. I have only actually seen what you described a couple of times, but I have heard it can be painful. Glad to hear it is getting better.
