That may have been what your training was like, but I can assure you that anyone who takes the Delta Kits training class does much more than "see some guy do a repair." By the end of training, most of our technicians can do better repairs than many people who have been doing repairs for years and think they know everything.

As for the convention. If you are interested in adding an additional line of service to your current business, there is flat out, no better show to attend. Seeing little pictures on the internet is great, but if you can see all different possibilities side by side, being demonstrated, you can't beat that.

That that make sence like the time share demo they give the free stay if you will spend 2 hrs listening to a sales pitch If you can bring the family and spend a minimum at the trade show have a good time with the family and still figure a way to write it off then in that case I think you found a reason to go to a trade show that I agree with
Jeff
Unfortunatly most people who attend these things get wound up thinking attending will show them how to succeed where the have failed or maybe see the newly reinvented wheel
Its alot like the Zig Ziegler sales seminar wind em up while they are there but a couple days later its back to the old ways no hard substence just fluff.
As far as adding services why? A blind forest gumper could stumble into 6 insurance repairs a day 6x$50 =$300 $300x5=$1500 52x$1500 =$78,000 the money is in that tool box we already carry around this job is actually so easy that I often wonder can it be legal? Anyone can learn to do a good repair with any number of systems out there If they really want to go somewhere and spend $ take a sales class not some lame trade show

Time spent learning to sell yourself and your product is valuble and will build on your future time spent cruisin the booths at a tech show is time wasted for me I know how to do repairs and have plenty of equipment and I doubt they will learn the sales techniques they need there.

GlassStarz,

Nothing against your intellect or use of the english language (Lord knows my spelling is terrible) but could you start using commas, periods and capital letters. I have to read your posts 2 or 3 times before I understand what you are trying to say.

Anyway.........Are you telling us that you are doing 30 insurance jobs per week and 78k per year, and that everone should be doing the same? I for one do not believe that. The Forrest Gump line was out of line, in my opinion!

For all those attending in Florida, enjoy and absorb all you can. Wish I could be there!

Wow, Starz is blowing me away, Maybe he is just having a bad day...
I cant believe something so positive can turn into something so negative here, but thats O.K. we are all allowed to express our opinions...

Im just hoping I can get to go to the 2005 M.T.N. Expo, I went a few years ago and found it VERY interesting to say the least, Its just nice being around other people who have the same interests at heart, Id say everyone can learn a little something, (no matter how negative they may be), There isnt another show like it in the world for Mobile techs like ourselves... Im very happy that Kevin Halewood can put it all together for us...

If you dont want to attend I think thats O.K. too, Myself Id like to earn well over $100.000 p.a. Attending a show like this and surrounding myself with other positive people might be all I need in order to come up with more profitable idea's...

To those of you who have never attended the MTN Expo, I can assure you its NOT a pushy sales event and nothing like attending a time share presentation... Its an education and provides insight into the industry that many of us need...

Glassstarz is on a different page than the rest of us I think. He is referring to the EXPO and Jeff from DK is talking about the training class at a seperate venue AFTER the EXPO is over. I am not sure that Glassstarz is saying that the training class is a waste of time probably just his opinion of a huge expo where multiple people pitch their products. I find expos to be incredibly fun and informative. I for one find it difficult to look at a pic on the internet and fully understand all the basics and considerations invloved with a new product or service I might choose to sell to people. Expos are not only a fantastic write off but they are also a good meeting tool and a good business increasing tool.
As to Zig Ziglar he is the finest motivational/sales speaker to ever have hit the earth. If you get nothing out of his seminars you aren't listening. I own everything he has ever recorded and sold publicly (to my knowledge). If you can listen to him and truly have a desire to learn and not come away with many nuggets of truth then you need to get out of the sales business ( I say YOU in a generric sense not glassstarz in particular). I have over 1000 motivational/sales related seminars and alot of it is fluff but each and every one of those I have found a piece that I can pick out and use in my sales. I have never met a succesful (in business not personal life) person who did not listen to sales/motivation related tapes and I have never met an unsuccesful person who did listen to them.
People unwilling to learn from others are always and without exception unsuccesful in most every aspect of life.

Hi I can see someone whos been doing this for alot of years not getting anything out of the expo. I being new to PDR and glass, went last year. HIGHLY RECOMEND IT! I learned a tone! I also met people who have helped me with questions over the last year. I feel you form a more personal bond with someone when youve met them. As for the show it self it was great just to see all the different areas of services you can add onto your business. I also happen to be a see it touch it kind of guy. I want to see the item first hand, see a demo and explore the options. Seeing items side by side, asking questions back and forth between reps etc is great. As i said if you new to the business or looking for add on services this is an event NOT to be missed! O and a week in Flordia in Jan vs a week here in Canada in Jan... Ill take the palm trees over the snow flakes!!
